Day 193 – Thursday 13th March Chile

So guess what, I didn’t wake up in time for the volcano trip… Shocker right?! I woke up when Owen got up to get a bus with Cam and Tess to the national park so joined them for the day.

At the park we did the Los Lagos (The Lakes) trek which was about 4-5 hours and I got quite tired. It would have been hard work I think if I had woken up for the volcano. There were some beautiful views in the park though, the volcano in the background beyond the lakes.

I got back to the bus just in time as I was behind the others, otherwise it would have been a 3 hour wait till the next one.

Back in Pucon I got a couple of empanadas for lunch and then had a burger as well as I was starving. When I got back to the hostel the owner of the volcano tour company was there. He knew I’d been drunk and overslept but kindly allowed me to go on the next trip, a gave him a hug!

The rest of the day I spent at the hostel and it was very social and there were lots of nice people staying. I went to the supermarket to get some supplies for tomorrow, I bought a lot of cheese and pate (I thought they were sausages…). The pate was horrible, it was in like a sausage skin but was so squidgy you could squeeze it out, yuk!!

I also bought a six pack of beer which I drank but I was under a curfew imposed by Carli to make sure I woke in time! Fun night though, I ate a lot of cheese and lots of leftover dinners! Was sensible though and was in bed by 11.
